Who I am.

My name is Elizabeth Franklin-Best and I am a lawyer who focuses on criminal appellate law. I started at the Richland County Public Defender’s office in Columbia, South Carolina where I worked alongside some of the most passionate lawyers in this profession. Later, I worked at the South Carolina Commission on Indigent Defense, Appellate Division where I studied and analyzed hundreds of different cases, and gained valuable experience arguing in the South Carolina Supreme Court and the Court of Appeals. I’m licensed in New York, South Carolina, South Carolina District Court, the Fourth, Fifth (pending) and Eleventh Circuits of Appeal, and the United States Supreme Court. These days, I’m in private practice and I handle capital cases and criminal appeals, including federal habeas and white collar crime. I am a partner in the law firm of Blume Franklin-Best & Young, LLC and am the Vice-Chair on the Board of Directors for Justice 360. I am also a Vice-Chair on the Amicus Committee for the Fourth Circuit for the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, and on the White Collar Crime Committee of the American Bar Association.
